Be seen. Be celebrated. Be SANATI.
SANATI’s Sister Communities Program connects townships, favelas, villages and inner-city neighborhoods across continents through creative collaboration. These agreements go beyond cultural exchange — they build economic partnerships, youth-led travel programs, and shared artistic platforms. Together, we celebrate our differences while discovering how much we have in common.
Alexandra and Kibera — two of Africa’s most iconic urban communities — are now united through sport. This sisterhood is powered by basketball leagues, sports diplomacy, and township travel, using youth development and play as tools for healing and international connection.
Our Soweto–Sowebo agreement links the energy of South Africa’s most iconic Township with the creative fire of Baltimore’s Southwest Arts District. Together, we plan to co-host arts and poetry festivals, photography residencies, and community murals that tell parallel stories from both sides of the Atlantic.
Alexandra Township and Alemoa Favela, both rich in resilience and rhythm, are now connected through a vibrant sisterhood. This partnership focuses on cultural tourism, youth entrepreneurship, and music-driven exchanges, creating a pipeline between Afro-Brazilian and pan-African creativity.
The Community Arts and Tourism Cultural Diplomacy Workshop is SANATI’s flagship training experience designed for artists, diplomats, educators, and community leaders. It blends immersive learning, practical toolkits, and real-world cultural engagement — equipping participants to use creativity as a force for diplomacy, development, and tourism.
Learn how music, film, visual arts, and performance can influence international understanding and community cohesion. This stream teaches participants how to use cultural expression to break borders, challenge stereotypes, and shape powerful narratives that travel across nations.
Turn villages, townships, and neighborhoods into globally compelling destinations. This stream equips attendees with the skills to design and activate local spaces—gallery homes, cinema rooms, walking tours—while promoting inclusive tourism that benefits communities directly.
Designed for cultural officers, local government, and embassy staff, this stream explores how to integrate community arts and tourism into municipal and foreign policy. Participants co-create frameworks, toolkits, and grant models that fund and sustain cultural diplomacy programs.
This hands-on track empowers young people with entrepreneurial skills in arts and tourism. Through mentorship, workshops, and real-world simulations, participants learn how to launch creative businesses, run residencies, and become cultural leaders across the continent.
